How can I profit?

The Eclipse Training Alliance is a worldwide renowned training organization, closely cooperating with the Eclipse Foundation. We set the standards for the highest quality of training classes, course material and certificates when it comes to Eclipse-related technologies. Our certification program offers a solution for IT professionals who seek to demonstrate their expertise to the world. It is designed to validate your skills and demonstrate your proficiency in the latest Eclipse technologies and solutions. The program is beneficial for individuals who wish to validate their skills, as well as for companies that wish to ensure certain performance levels of their employees.

How can I get certified?

The certification will be carried out in two steps:

• Step 1: Multiple-choice acceptance test (free of charge)

  The acceptance test consists of 30 multiple-choice questions, of which 21 have to be answered correctly. You have 45 minutes to complete the test. The participation in the acceptance test does only require basic knowledge of the related Eclipse technologies and you can start right away. Moreover, you can explore some test questions in a trial quiz (10 questions, no time limit).

• Step 2: Work on a programming assignment

  Passed the acceptance quiz? Then proceed to the next level! There will be a programming assignment waiting for you which has to be finished and turned in within 24 hours. You can request the programming assignment at any time and get a follow-up E-Mail within minutes. After finishing the programming assignment you turn in your results while committing your code into our CVS. Our experts will evaluate your solutions while applying the following criteria:

  • is your brief textual summary of your major design choices correct and significant?
  • does the program meet the subtasks´ requirements?
  • did you select and use the appropriate elements?
  • is the overall code clear, concise and maintainable?
  • did you meet some minimal documentation requirements?

Please bear in mind that the tests will be taken in English.

Are there prerequisites for taking the test?

There are no prerequisites for taking the acceptance test. All we need is your email address for sending you a confirmation code once you have passed the acceptance test. The confirmation code will be needed to participate in the second step of the certification. Don´t worry if you failed in the first attempt of the acceptance test. There is no limit for your attempts to pass the test. Prerequisites for taking the second step of the certification are:

• You have passed the acceptance test.
• You have paid the certification fee of € 249,- (plus VAT).

Hint: Please indicate the confirmation code you have received via email when paying the certification fee.

Which skills are required?

The certification is based on the Eclipse RCP course of the Eclipse Training Alliance. If you have attended this course you should have all necessary theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Please be aware that attending our course is neither a guarantee nor a mandatory prerequisite for becoming certified by us.

Who is the issuer of the certificate?

The Eclipse Training Alliance is an international network of software development firms with deep Eclipse know-how and years of experience with professional software development with Eclipse. This certificate reflects requirements of the Eclipse Training Alliance partner companies for their Eclipse RCP developers.

What do I get if I pass the certification tests?

Your certificate must show your expertise in different media. You will therefore receive:

• Your certificate as a hard copy
• Your certificate as a PDF document
• You can subscribe for being mentioned on our website www.eclipse-training.net in the list of certified Eclipse RCP developers

Does the certificate expire?

Your certificate is based on the current development state of Eclipse RCP. Right now the test covers Eclipse 3.4. Your certificate has not limitation in time though. We recommend a recertification if the Eclipse Foundation releases a major version which is relevant for your work.
